Lutheran Services in America invites you to join national conversations about how we are called to love and serve our neighbors and shape a new future together.
With the 2009 March issue of LSA Together, LSA publicly launched the LSA Conversations Series and has extended an open invitation to members and partners of LSA, and others, to join the many conversations that the Series can explore.
Like conversations that one might have with one’s family, friends, professional or academic colleagues, these booklets are meant to be flexible in style, open to a wide range of subjects, limited only by imagination and interests, and ultimately available for use with multiple audiences: board or staff members, networking or external partners, synodical or congregational committees, seminary or college sessions, or anywhere that they might stimulate more conversation around a particular topic. The list is limitless.
LSA only requires that in using the booklets, or parts of the booklets, that attribution is given to LSA and the original author.

LSA Conversations Series Format
The Conversations Series format is one that can be easily generated by LSA and readily shared, accessed and expanded. LSA hopes to invite many voices, and a wide variety of topics, into exciting and stimulating conversations. This is an opportunity for LSA to “publish” the many words, thoughts, perspectives, and experiences about Lutheran social ministry. It is an opportunity to explore those ideas that are just emerging and to search for solutions with others who might add their unique insights.
Each booklet is intended to be a quick read – from 1500 to 3600 words, or approximately the length of a 12 to 30 minute presentation. While each booklet will by nature share information that can stand on its own, the intention of the Conversations Series is for each booklet to encourage further conversation on a particular topic as each is shared by way of the electronic communication vehicles of LSA. It is even a possibility that one conversation booklet might spawn a new conversation, a “new version” of a booklet which could engender more thoughts and keep the “conversations” going.
As appropriate, the booklets in the Conversations Series could also point to larger venues, events, white papers, reports, etc. and be a tool to draw the members and partners of LSA into conversations, as well as to send out information. The booklets could be a start-up for a particular project and do not by nature need to be “finished products” although they could just as well serve as completed work or represent a unique completed presentation. In other words, there is great flexibility in their structure.
Each Conversations Series booklet will be edited, vetted and formatted for general consistency before being included in the materials posted to the LSA website and linked in LSA electronic messages. Each booklet has the same graphically designed cover with a space for a unique title, a description of the Conversations Series and an invitation to get involved with an exchange of thoughts, opinions and ideas. Once compiled, the individual booklets on any particular theme will reside here on the LSA Website and will be shared regularly as links in LSA’s electronic media.

Think about the conversations you are hearing, the perspectives you have to share, the words you may have already written, and then join the conversations happening at LSA so that others may join in also.
We hope for many conversations – with a sincere exchange of thoughts, perspectives and experiences – on issues and topics that will shape our future together. You may send your conversation to us as text; don’t worry about formatting or heavy editing – LSA will “publish” your conversation in the Series format.
