Examples of Recent Consulting Engagements

Seize opportunities for leadership teams

A multi-service state agency needed a plan for replacing a key member of its executive leadership team. LSA consultants reviewed documents and job descriptions and then interviewed senior staff and board members. The consultants served as a sounding board for the CEO and offered invaluable keys to options for restructuring leadership.

Build an effective board

One board of directors needed to assess strengths and areas for growth. LSA conducted telephone interviews with board members, compiled and studied the results and presented findings. The process prepared the board to set goals for the next year in member recruitment, involvement in fundraising and further board development.

Design the right executive transition process

In anticipation of the retirement of the CEO, the board of directors of a long term care facility was looking for help in selecting a new CEO. An LSA consultant provided a structure for the board's discussion, shared helpful guidebooks, offered resources about the full range of LSA's executive transition services and discussed insights gleaned from the experiences of other organizations. The workshop set the board on a solid path during a time of transition.

Solve the problem of growth

A community development organization was experiencing rapid expansion and needed to know how to grow smart. An LSA peer consultant team helped design a new organizational structure, negotiate changes to staff responsibilities and outline a new compensation plan. They also developed a communication plan to ensure that staff members were kept up-to-date about the organizational changes and that external stakeholders were well informed.

Tune up programs and services

One organization needed to review an underperforming service line. After reviewing materials in advance, two consultants met onsite with the CEO and service line manager and interviewed program staff members. Their report and observations provided concrete ways that the organization might add new program elements, energize its approach to marketing and increase revenues.

Add capacity for change

An aging services provider received a significant grant to improve its effectiveness in three operational areas: congregational relationships, spiritual care, and volunteerism. An LSA consulting team went into gear by gathering staff teams to develop strategic and work plans in the three areas and then to provide capacity to the organization to implement the plans with the goal of effecting changes across all the organization’s aging services.
