Kari Olson from Front Porch to Host Case Study on Innovation
Monday, December 14, 2015

Kari OlsonTwo years ago, Front Porch, a California-based nonprofit, launched an initiative called Humanly PossibleSM, a transformative commitment to cause-based innovation. Humanly Possible isn't just a tagline or a short-term plan, this new way of thinking has become a catalyst for disruptive innovation, strategic development and new partnership throughout the Front Porch organization.

Sound intriguing? We thought so too and are delighted to announce that Kari Olson, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer of Front Porch and President of the Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing, will host a Senior Leader Case Study at the Lutheran Leadership Summit, February 21 – 26, 2016 in Carefree, Ariz.

As the daughter of a Lutheran pastor, Olson was raised in a family committed to service. In 1992 as the technology manager for a law firm in California, she realized her heart was in the non-profit world and joined California Lutheran Homes and Community Services, a founding partner of Front Porch, as director of information systems and services.

Currently, Olson leads the Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing, which was initiated in part with seed funding from California Lutheran Homes Foundation and which has driven a transformation in the Front Porch culture. Answering a call to cause-based innovation, Humanly Possible brings a breakthrough of thought culture to Front Porch that has touched the heart and soul of everyone at every level of the organization. By celebrating ideas and the creative possibilities that are inherent in all of their people, Front Porch has embraced the sea of change in the world—changes in the people they serve, the families who support them, their communities, their competition and outside regulation. Their robust innovation center has developed new approaches, methodologies and technology applications to meet community‐determined needs for people of all ages.

Front Porch, based in Glendale, California, is a nonprofit 'human serving' organization that does everything 'humanly possible' to creatively meet the needs of individuals and families.   Front Porch works in partnership to support individuals in full‐service retirement and active adult communities, through innovative outreach programs, and in affordable housing communities through CARING Housing Ministries, a division of Front Porch. The organization has received numerous accolades and national awards for innovation and excellence in meeting the needs of older adults. The organization is a member of the LSA network.
