Lutheran Services in America Lived Voices Fellowship FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: LIVED VOICES FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

  • How can I apply?
  • How long will the application take?
    • The application should take approximately 40–60 minutes to complete. Your information will not be saved if you close the tab down. To ensure you do not lose any longer form text, we recommend storing this in a different application such as a Word document.
  • Do I need to prepare any materials to complete the application?
    • The application itself is self-completed. However, you will need to attach a resume or a professional cover letter as part of the application process and attest that your organization (whether you are employed or in a volunteer capacity) supports your application. The application will require you to list an organizational contact who is either your supervisor or a higher-level executive.
    • View a PDF of the application questions.
  • When is the application due?
    • Applications will be accepted until February 9, 2024.
  • What level of education is required?
    • There are no specific degree requirements for the Lived Voices Fellowship Program.
  • Can I miss a meeting or the in-person convening?
    • Full and continuous participation in all convenings (with video on for virtual convenings) is a requirement. Dipping in and out compromises the individual experience and the group experience. Only applicants who are able to participate in all meetings and convenings in full, and with video on, will be considered. If accepted as a fellow, you commit to full participation.
  • What kind of time commitment is involved?
    • As a Lived Voices fellow, you are making a commitment to actively participate in various components of the program. This includes dedicating time to monthly obligations, totaling approximately four hours per month. These monthly commitments consist of engaging in three-hour virtual fellowship meetings held from March to November 2024 (comprising eight sessions) and one-hour small group Healing Centered Engagement Peer Coaching sessions (seven sessions).
    • Additionally, there is a mandatory two and a half-day in-person fellowship gathering scheduled in Washington, D.C. from August 7-9, 2024, with all travel, lodging, and incidentals covered by Lutheran Services in America.
    • Beyond these, you will have occasional coaching sessions or interactions with fellowship facilitators, including a 30-minute introductory coaching call at the launch of the fellowship. Furthermore, there will be three 1-hour meetings throughout the fellowship dedicated to building relationships with leaders in the Lutheran Services in America network. Your active and consistent participation is crucial to the success of the fellowship, emphasizing not only what you will gain from the experience but also the meaningful contributions you will make.
  • How many fellows will be selected?
    • 15–18 fellows will be selected for the Lived Voices Fellowship Program.
  • How can I learn more about the Fellowship and applying to the 2024 program?
  • Who can I contact if I have any questions about the application?
    • If you encounter questions or problems with the application, please send an email to Renada Johnson at rjohnson@lutheranservices.org with the subject line: Lived Voices Fellowship Application.
  • When will I get my stipend?
    • Fellows will receive their stipend at the mid-point of the fellowship.
  • What happens after I apply?
    • After review by Lutheran Services in America staff, successful candidates will proceed to a virtual interview. Fellows will be promptly notified of their status and any potential next steps. Final fellowship decisions are expected to be made no later than March 1, 2024.
